Branding and sign painting for Belleville coffee roasters flag ship cafe, La Fontaine De Belleville.

Six craftspeople from around the UK were challenged by Meantime Brewery to create a piece of work in six weeks  (the same time it takes to brew a beer) as part of their ‘Make Time For It’ campaign. We created a gilded panel with mirrored gold, a fade of different gold leaf, pearl in-lays and a decorative border.

We first collaborated with Breddos Tacos in 2016 on their Clerkenwell restaurant and then headed back at the end of 2017 to paint at their Soho branch. We did their light boxes, fascia, menu boards, window offerings and finished off with some folky style margarita menu's.

Book cover lettering for the Folio Society limited edition of ‘Tales from the 1001 Nights’ illustrated by Salvador Dali. Features fifty watercolour plates bound in a 18” x 13.5” gold foiled calfskin volume that lives along side a text volume in a ‘solander presentation box’ bound in cloth with gold and cream foil lettering.

We started collaborating with Armstrong Audio in 2017 and recently completed this stage of the project with them. We started out by creating bespoke designs for their fascia, a-board and hanging sign. We incorporated their logo in our designs and gilded their windows with silver leaf. The finishing touch was their wall offering, which was free handed on site.

We began working with Belleville in 2013, designing them a custom logotype and have since worked closely with the brand in all forms of their graphic design and communications. We have worked on posters, packaging, gold leaf windows, colour system, brand guidelines, stationary and art direction.

It has been an honour to work so closely with the client, to have such a strong lead and to be able to explore so many avenues of the brand.

Luminor specialises in 100% hand-lettered design, sign painting & gold leaf. 

The original Luminor Sign Co stood on the corner of Old St & City Rd in the East End of London. It closed in 1938.

Today Luminor has been re-established with the aim of providing custom design, lettering and sign making to London and beyond.

During the 'Golden Era' of design, art departments were full of illustrators and lettering artists working at draftsman's tables, producing wonderful designs by hand before they went to print and screen. 

Before vinyl signs arrived in the 1980s, generations of 'sign men' created the visual identities of our cities with hand-painted signs that had an individual character. 

At Luminor their aim is simple: to continue the tradition of quality design & sign painting in just the way it used to made before the advent of digital design.

We were asked to create a bespoke gilded panel for a client. We created a distressed mirror with a decorative border, using pearl inlay and 24crt gold leaf.

Sign Painted windows with burning log letters, the fascia in a classic thick & thin lettering style and menu boards with a mixture of casual and block lettering for Texas Joes in Bermondsey.

We were asked to paint Loughborough Junction Bridge for part of the Lambeth Council's  engagement work in the area. This involved some some tight time frame management with road closures, some large scale patterns and strategic mapping. This was part of the 7 Bridges project.

A hand lettered design for Anna Mae's - 'Mac N Cheese' food truck, affectionately named 'Burt Reynolds' - a 1980s American Gold GMC. This was a dream job, using script, block and casual lettering.
